Reflecting on EDU 776/LIS 724

 Looking Back

It's crazy to go back to my very first post on here and remember how nervous I was to start blogging for this class. I think this blog and my professional website will be the largest online presence I have, since I've always tried to lay low online. If this whole project is one of the first things people find of me online, I would be completely okay with that! It's definitely better than my first search result being my address. Going back to my first blog post, I was hopeful for a good experience, and I must say it's been pretty great! Although I did not get to know my classmates in person, I felt like I was able to learn about my peers through their posts and comments, and I think that was one of the highlights of this experience. Our assignments also allowed me to reflect on each topic that was covered, providing me with a new level of self-awareness and a chance to grow!

My Relationship With Technology Now

The amount of technology used throughout my day has stayed the same, but my proficiency of learning more about things I use regularly has increased. I feel like I'm a little more inclined to learn more about how things work, rather than shrugging it off if it doesn't work. This is definitely due to the amount of exploring done in this class and the fact that my manager now has me sit in on all the issues involving technology. If you remember my DVD player predicament from the beginning of this semester, it's finally been resolved! It turns out that it just needed a reset, which is basically my solution of turning it off and on again. The issue was that there was no visible reset button! It took 3 IT people to find that in order to reset the device, you had to find the second pinhole toward the bottom of the wall panel and stick a paperclip in it for a second. I would have never thought to or even attempted taking this panel off of the wall and sticking it with a paperclip. This specific experience taught me to look for the unexpected.

As for incorporating technology into my children's programs, I never thought of artificial intelligence as technology we can use in programs. A lot of my stuff is hands-on, but I think incorporating AI plans can help me organize programs. I think using ChatGPT will help me come up with ideas for the Creative Writing Club I'm going to run during our spring season. This idea would not have come up if we didn't do our deep dive on artificial intelligence this week. I believe that this class has made me more open to incorporating technology into my work. It has also made me more curious about how technology works and continues to develop, especially since it seems like once new technology is introduced there is rapid development and growth in its popularity. I will definitely try to be less hesitant when trying out new programs.
